A busshist temple in Kyoto. Cycling is the best way to explore the ancient capital Kyoto.
Duration: 4 -6 hours

I did a six hour cycling tour throughout Northern Kyoto with Yamatora tours, it was a wonderful experience I could have never created on my own. The day was well planned and included both top attractions and some that were off the beaten path. We also took a lot of side streets that provided a glimpse of Kyoto life sans the mass tourist crowds. I highly recommend hiring Takaaki (owner) for a guided tour, the investment is well worth it!

Overview

Hop on a bike and explore authentic Kyoto through back streets and alleyways. You will discover things that you would otherwise have missed.

Itinerary

The starting point for this tour is the northern part of Kyoto City which enables us to stretch the tour’s coverage to lesser-travelled locations. One of the most popular sites in Japan will be covered, Kinkakuji – the Golden Pavilion,  but we will also visit a tranquil Zen temple. This is like a great “balanced meal”, you will enjoy the contrast between the vibrant and the serene.

– The Golden temple “Kinkakuji” (the golden pavilion)
– Zen garden at Daitokuji temple complex
– Japanese sweets from a one thousand-year-old shop
– Cycling along the Kamo River
– Other local spots hand-picked by guide
